Biography

Famous American musician, songwriter and Grammy winner Brian Wilson (full name Brian Douglas Wilson) was born in 1942 in California. Brian is one of the founders of the legendary band The Beach Boys, where he sang and played the bass. That group gained popularity in no time due to such hits as Surfin' USA, California Girls and many others, and Wilson took the big part in their creation. At that period Brian achieved the reputation of the wonderful composer and theoretician. Moreover, he knew exactly what kind of music he wanted to play.

Not the most successful period of Brian’s life began in 1969: Wilson experienced the creative crisis; he was severely depressed and started to take drugs. Luckily, the singer’s family members and close ones helped him to recover and get back to normal life. In late eighties Brian quitted The Beach Boys and started the solo career, and his debut work titled Brian Wilson was released in 1988. It was critically acclaimed and the musician’s fans really enjoyed his first solo creation.

Listeners had to wait for new albums for seven years, but in 1995 they got two records in a row: I Just Wasn't Made For These Times and Orange Crate Art. Besides the wonderful music, Brian presented the interesting content. All the things that happened to him, Wilson put into his creativity, and such honesty and sociability definitely played a great role. Brian’s fourth album Imagination was released in 1998 and it included the famous song Your Imagination. Also the musician made a present for his fans: he made two cover versions of The Beach Boys compositions: Keep An Eye On Summer and Let Him Run Wild. These interpretations turned out to be very successful and were enjoyed by music lovers. Fans of the live sound were pleased by two live albums Live At The Roxy Theatre (2000) and Pet Sounds Live (2002). The latter was especially hailed by listeners: Brian performed the whole The Beach Boys’ legendary album titled Pet Sounds (1966), which was of a great success.

In 2004 the singer released two studio works: Gettin' In Over My Head and Smile. Gettin' In Over My Head proved to be an extremely strong album, created jointly with such famous musicians as Paul McCartney, Eric Clapton and Elton John, who added some bright elements to the whole record. The long play What I Really Want For Christmas, devoted to New Year and Christmas, appeared in 2005 and it included traditional holiday songs and compositions, written by Brian. Again the fans got the nice bonus: The Beach Boys cover-versions. That time Wilson presented the interpretations of Little Saint Nick and The Man With All The Toys.

In 2008 the musician’s discography was enlarged by the strong album That Lucky Old Sun, created in the highest level. Brian’s experience allowed him to record the wonderful long play that had everything: atmosphere, energy and the great sound. Two years later the legendary rocker issued Brian Wilson Reimagines Gershwin (2010), which proved to be as interesting as its predecessor. That studio attempt showed that Wilson still has plenty of new ideas that he realizes perfectly in his albums. There is no doubt that Brian Wilson Reimagines Gershwin will be interesting not only for the musician’s old fans, but also for all the good, honest and high-quality music lovers.
