Biography

The band Cut Copy was formed at the beginning of the twenty-first century in the capital of Australia. That group’s musical style is hard to define, since it includes elements of such genres as electropop, synthpop, dance punk and many others. Such kind of combination was enjoyed by music lovers all around the world, and Cut Copy managed to achieve the deserved attention.

The band’s debut album titled Bright Like Neon Love saw the light in 2004. That record got excellent reviews from critics, while listeners became interested in Cut Copy’s music. In 2005 the group went on their first international tour where they played with such famous bands as Franz Ferdinand, Junior Senior, Bloc Party and many others. The energy of live performances was truly amazing, so two years later Cut Copy pleased the audience during another tour Nevereverland. There were about fifty thousand people at the gig in Sydney, which is of course a great proof of the fact that Cut Copy managed to find their public.

The artists released their second long play titled In Ghost Colours in 2008. It turned out to be as bright as its predecessor, so the experts again noted an interesting combination of various styles. The trio mixes elements of indie-rock and electronica in a very successful way and as the result they get original and rememberable sound. It is worth mentioning that the musicians’ compositions proved to be really called-for. Thus, their song Lights And Music was included into the official soundtrack of the game FIFA 09.

Three years later Cut Copy’s discography was enlarged by a new long play Zonoscope. For its cover art the trio chose a work of the Japanese artist and master of photomontage Tsunehisa Kimura. There is absolutely no doubt that union of Cut Copy’s music and Kimura’s masterpiece turned out to be very successful. Of course, the quality of the material presented on Zonoscope is unquestionable - Cut Copy proved that they can create truly original music without any limits.
