R.O.O.T.S. review

R.O.O.T.S. promises to be great

American rapper Tramar Dillard, known all over the world as Flo Rida, was born and raised up in the sunny state of Florida. No wonder, he named himself in the honor of his native place. He started performing in his teens with the local hip-hop band, but soon the artist caught the attention of producers and decided that he is worthy a solo career. After school graduation, he attended the University Of Nevada, Las Vegas, and Barry University for about two years, but dropped the study in order to concentrate over his musical career. While the time passed, Flo Rida did not reap his laurels, and he had to try several professions to support himself, until he signed a deal with the Poe Boy Entertainment independent label. The first single by Flo Rida titled Low and featuring T-Pain became a mega-hit. His debut attempt Mail On Sunday has reached golden status for now. The sophomore album by Flo Rida got the title of R.O.O.T.S. and was preceded by an extremely successful single Right Round. The album itself has such an extended list of guest celebrities, which can catch the attention of the listeners by itself. However, Flo Rida masterfully centers the attention of the public on his own persona, as an acknowledged party leader. Actually, the disc R.O.O.T.S. was created for the parties.

Flo Rida gets it started

The new album R.O.O.T.S. is undoubtedly perfectly tailored for the purpose, which its predecessor ideally fitted – it is an imaginary-striking and energetic club record. Anyway, the album also will do for a home party. It is obvious that the extremely popular hit single Right Round became the visit card of the disc, and you can make a conclusion about the successfulness of R.O.O.T.S. itself according to this track. The winding club anthem is built around the contemporary rework of the 80s’ hit You Spin Me Round (Like A Record) by the British command Dead Or Alive, the song being spiced up by a good portion of first-rate rapping by Flo Rida. The album opens with the midtempo-paced autobiographic track Finally Here. In this song, the artist introduces himself, so to say, to a listener and narrates of his life collisions – well, it is a classical start for a hip-hop release. It is followed by the danceable duet of Flo Rida with Nelly Furtado, titled Jump. Two tracks on this disc explore the music of the well-known and world-famous fun-lovers The Black Eyed Peas. The first one is produced by the leader of the band, will.i.am. It is the catchy tune Available (Feat. Akon). The second song is the measured and spiritual motif Rewind (Feat.Wyclef), which is memorable for its gospel elements and an excellent duet of Flo Rida with Wyclef Jean. One more potential hit on the disc is Sugar (Feat. Winter), which gave a new life to the Euro-pop blockbuster Blue Da Ba Dee by the trio Eiffel 65. The only serious and pending to be thoughtful track on this party album is the hip-hop composition R.O.O.T.S., which gave the title to the long-play.

The total rework of the club hits

The scale and boldness of R.O.O.T.S. are breath-keeping. It seems that on this album, Flo Rida decided to gather the hits of several decades. The full-length features the fragments of songs by Dead Or Alive and Tina Turner, both popular in 80s, and the rework of the only famous creation by Eiffel 65, which was released in late 90s. As for the club hits of the current decade, featured on R.O.O.T.S., we have the already mentioned pop giants The Black Eyed Peas and Benny Benassi with his grinding club monster Satisfaction. However, Flo Rida does not use all these hits in order to gain glory with their sake. Instead, he creates his own compositions on the basis of these timeless songs, which goes according to the best hip-hop traditions. It is also hard not to notice the strong vocals of Flo Rida, his excellent rapping skills and a praiseworthy sense of humor. The producing command, which took part in the creation of R.O.O.T.S., also makes an impression on a listener. We can see here such names as Dre & Vidal, whose tandem needs no further introduction, Dr. Luke, who is credited for his work with Lily Allen, Stargate and many others. Overall, Flo Rida demonstrated his ability to work in a command, but to keep his individuality at the same time, once again. No doubt, that such a wonderful disc as R.O.O.T.S. soon will be torn into ring tones by the listeners. Flo Rida – обзор альбома R.O.O.T.S.
