American actress, poetess and singer Jill Scott, well-known to millions of cinema and music lovers all over the world, was born in Pennsylvania in 1972. He debut as an actress took place in 2007, when she tried her acting skills in the movie Hounddog. A talented person is talented in everything, and Jill Scott proved that due to her amazing acting. Moreover, she writes poems, and according to reviews of connoisseurs of poetry, her creations are popular indeed. Well, one way or another, that has always been the music that remains number one for Jill. Scott feels right at home in various genres, from jazz and soul to R&B, and she definitely got her title of one of the most influential performers for good reasons.

The singer’s debut album Who Is Jill Scott? Words And Sounds Vol. 1 saw the light in 2000. The record immediately attracted attention of listeners and musical experts, who acclaimed Jill’s first studio work. The very long play was nominated for Grammy Award in the nomination Best R&B Album, while three songs Gettin' In The Way, A Long Walk and He Loves Me (Lyzel in E Flat) were among the nominates for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance. It was an incredibly confident beginning of the career indeed: the album’s multiplatinum status in the US became a great proof of the fact that Jill’s studio attempt was enjoyed by listeners. Four years later the artist released the next work titled Beautifully Human: Words And Sounds Vol. 2, which proved to be not less interesting than its predecessor. The composition Cross My Mind from that album brought Jill her first Grammy Award.

Scott pleased her fans with her third album The Real Thing: Words And Sounds Vol. 3 in 2007. Traditionally strong work became an excellent addition to Jill’s discography. She presented an outstanding compilation of songs of various genres: R&B, soul and neo soul. There is absolutely no doubt that Scott knows perfectly the essence of these styles and her vocals always sound just right. It seems that it was created exactly to perform emotional and sensual compositions. Actually that is the way how it goes: emotions and sincerity became Jill’s signature and best recognizable features. It is worth mentioning that Scott has always been open for people not only in her art. Thereby she established the charity fund Blues Babe Foundation, aimed for helping those young people, who are eager to get an education. The fund was named after Jill’s grandmother, who was often called Blue Babe.
