Biography

American rock band Jimmy Eat World was formed in 1993 in Arizona. In the beginning of the career musicians performed punk-rock, however later they decided to experiment with various genres. Thus, Jimmy Eat World’s creativity included elements of punk-rock, emo-core and even indie-rock. By the way, the band’s name has its own history: Tom Linton had two younger brothers, Jimmy and Ed, who fought quite often. Usually Jimmy won, and once Ed revenged – he drew a picture of his brother eating the globe. The comment was rather simple: “Jimmy eat world”.

The debut self-titled record Jimmy Eat World was released in 1994, and the old photo of Linton’s brothers, presented the loud name for the band, was used as its cover. Two years later the musicians issued their second studio attempt Static Prevails (1996), which proved to be as interesting as its predecessor. Jimmy Eat World was gaining popularity, but the group’s members hardly thought about quitting the search of the right sound. Thereby the long play Clarity (1999) pleased the numerous music lovers with really original sound. Many experts agreed that Clarity turned out to be an extremely strong record, and probably one of Jimmy Eat World’s best works.

The release of the fourth album Bleed American took place in 2001. The fans enjoyed that work indeed, and its Platinum status proved that perfectly. Three years later the rockers issued Futures (2004), which got wonderful reviews from the critics. That record included the song Pain that became not only one of the brightest compositions of Futures, but also was included into the computer game Tony Hawk’s Underground 2. Chase This Light (2007) was another proof of the highest level of the musicians’ skills. Jimmy Eat World definitely had some fresh ideas: Chase This Light presented Electable (Give It Up), Gotta Be Somebody's Blues and other loud hits.

The new studio attempt Invented was released in 2010, ad its first single, My Best Theory, found its well deserved place in the air of many radio stations. There is absolutely no doubt that the long play Invented will be interesting not only for the band’s old fans, but also for the lovers of bright and sincere music.

Jimmy Eat World's new album Chase This Light is the smoothest and the friendliest record they ever did before. Their style has hardly changed; the difference between this album and the previous one is that the band became more mainstream oriented
