Biography

English singer Kim Wilde was born in 1960 in Chiswick, in west London. Kim has been familiar with the music since her very childhood: her father, Marty Wilde, was the vocalist in the rock band, and her mother, Joyce Baker, sang in the group The Vernons Girls. At the age of nine Wilde and her family moved to Hertfordshire, and soon she began studying how to play the piano. Kim entered St Albans College of Art & Design and got there the priceless experience, which later helped her in the creativity. v kept on improving her skills, and her efforts turned out to be successful: in 1980 Kim’s demos attracted attention of professionals from RAK Records. Thus, Wilde signed her very first contract.

The singer’s debut single Kids In America was issued in 1981 and it turned out to be one of her most recognizable compositions. That song got on top lines of many countries’ charts, and Kim’s first studio attempt titled Kim Wilde (1981) proved the highest level of performer’s skills. The following work Select was released in 1982 and that record surprised many listeners by the new, more electronic sound. However, Select was critically acclaimed and the musical experts noted not only its impressive sound, but also quite interesting lyrics. Soon after the release of Catch As Catch Can (1983) Wilde signed the contract with MCA Records.

The singer’s fourth studio work entitled Teases & Dares appeared in 1984 and it was the first record that included two songs, written by Kim herself – before that the music had been composed by her father and brother. In 1986 Wilde’s discography was enlarged by the strong album Another Step, and it is definitely worth mentioning that almost all its compositions had been created by Kim. The performer was gaining popularity, and her long plays, such as Close (1988), Love Moves (1990), Love Is (1992) and Now & Forever (1995) pleased her old fans and helped to win hearts of new listeners. In the middle of nineties Kim experienced very important and joyous moments of her life: in 1996 the singer married the musician Hal Fowler. Kim gave birth to their firstborn son Harry Tristan in 1998, and in 2000 she gave birth to daughter Rose Elisabeth.

Wilde’s long-awaited tenth album Never Say Never was released in 2006 and it included eight absolutely new tracks and five re-worked old ones. The return to the world of music (it had been eleven years since the singer’s previous album’s release) turned out to be very successful: Never Say Never debuted at the top lines of many European charts. Kim Wilde’s new studio attempt titled Come Out And Play was issued in 2010 and it proved the highest level of the artist’s skills. There is no doubt that Come Out And Play will be interesting not only for Kim’s old fans, but also for all the good music lovers.
