Biography

British rock-band Klaxons was formed in 2005 in London. The musicians knew exactly what and how they wanted to perform, and they immediately started working on their own material. Klaxons played gigs at small clubs, gaining the fan base: many music lovers enjoyed not only the compositions of Klaxons, but also their incredibly energetic shows.

Klaxons’ debut single titled Gravity's Rainbow was released in 2006 and the band was invited to the radio station BBC Radio 1 in order to play that composition. Thereby they managed to attract the attention of many listeners. The second single Atlantis To Interzone, which proved to be as interesting as its predecessor, also appeared in 2006, and due to that song the musicians were presented on the cover of the famous magazine NME. The band was gaining popularity in a very confident way, and soon various labels started to offer contracts to Klaxons. However the quartet chose Polydor Records, and in 2007 on that very record label they released the debut long play titled Myths Of The Near Future.

The band’s first studio work turned out to be strong and it got excellent reviews from the musical experts. Klaxons perfectly mixed the elements of such styles as disco-punk, indie-rock and many others. As the result, they got truly original musical cocktail, which had been enjoyed by millions of listeners all around the world. It is definitely worth mentioning that in 2007 Myths Of The Near Future won the prestigious Mercury Prize, and that fact proves the highest quality of Klaxons’ debut studio attempt.

Fans had to wait for the second album for three years: Surfing The Void was released in 2010. The musicians began working on the new material in 2008, but in 2009 the label management asked the band to rewrite some of the compositions, because they were “too experimental” for release. Nevertheless, Klaxons had plenty of new and fresh ideas, which were perfectly realized in Surfing The Void. There is absolutely no doubt that Surfing The Void will be interesting both for the band’s old fans and for all the good and original music lovers.
