The Truth About Love review

A Success that has taken 8 years

Could a little boy from North London singing along with his brother, pretending to be The Jacksons, imagine that he would be winning 2 Brit Awards and work with the most famous and talented singers and producers of the century? It took some time for Lemar to become a real British R&B star, but now it’s impossible to imagine the UK music scene without his amazingly sweet soul compositions. In 2002 he participated in Fame Academy, a reality TV show on BBC Television, and though he ended up being third, he was noticed by Sony Music and got a contract worth ?1 million. Now Lemar is one of the greatest soul singers in the UK, the most successful reality show contestant and one of the best-selling R&B artists. His third album, The Truth About Love, is his best album to date, being rated #3 in UK album chart and its leading single It’s Not That Easy becoming his sixth composition to get into the UK Top 10.

The Best Love Album

Speaking about the quality of the album, Lemar states that vocally, it’s the best thing he’s ever done and definitely his most complete body of work. The common subject that links all songs on the album is love, the topic that has been moving soul music since its very creation. These are the songs about parting, friendship, regret, temptation and everything that love is connected with. Such songs will always be relevant, according to Lemar, since ‘one thing that we never seem to always get right is love’. The album is recorded with life instruments and a great crew: the producer Brian Rawling, who has worked with such stars as Lionel Richie, Mica Paris and Tina Turner, the band (including legendary bassist Pino Palladino), who have played for Mary J Blige, D'Angelo, Common, Seal and Maxi Priest. The album features collaborations with such great singers as Mica Paris and Styles P plus a duet with Joss Stone. Their voices wonderfully intermix with Lemar’s outstanding soft vocals. The leading single of the album, It’s Not That Easy, is a piece of exceptionally harmonious old-school R&B music. Lemar’s deep and rich voice will take you on a journey that tells everything about love and relationship.

Professional Growth Through Resolution

With his nice appearance and expressive voice, Lemar is one of the most talented and successful soul singers up to date. Having sold 1.5 million albums, he is not willing to stop now and is planning tours to support his new album. The artist speaks about himself as a determined and very patient guy, who tries to put his soul into the music, creating an art of transmitting emotions through the microphone into his songs. No wonder he has so many fans around the world. Lemar is putting himself a 100 percent into his creations, working hard, as a person who has had a long way to his present state, being positive that music is the sphere he belongs to. Recently Lemar has been doing some charity work in Africa, proving once again that he is able to be compassionate and that all those emotions that he puts into his music are not just mere words. Since the beginning of his career, Lemar had a lot of professional growth and it is but natural to suppose that his level will only go higher and higher.
