Biography

American singer Stevie Nicks is well known for music lovers all over the world. For many listeners her name is associated with the creativity of rock band Fleetwood Mac, which became the start point for Stevie Nicks’ career. However the persevering singer succeeded in her solo career as well: Nicks proved to be a real professional, which is not a surprise, taking into account her love for the music. In total Stevie recorded more than forty hits that conquered charts. More than one hundred and forty million copies of her albums were sold. Of course, numbers and art are not so connected and intedependent, but it is simply impossible to ignore such a statistics.

Stevie Nicks’ debut album Bella Donna saw the light in 1981 and it peaked at the very top of Billboard chart in practically no time. By 1990 it was certified quadruple-platinum. Music lovers truly enjoyed delicate rock arrangements that combined with Nicks’ voice just perfectly. The singer released her second long play The Wild Heart in 1983 and it completely satisfied her fans’ expectations. Its main hit, Stand Back, had been recorded jointly with Prince, who performed the keyboard part. Stevie found her own sound that was well received by listeners and, which matters a lot, was really enjoyed by the artist herself. Thereby the process of recording of the new albums proved to be truly fascinating for the singer, and that, in its turn, turned out to be the proof of an amazing sound and highest level of performance.

In the twentieth century Stevie released three more amazing studio attempts: Rock A Little (1985), The Other Side Of The Mirror (1989) and Street Angel (1994). Due to these works she managed to completely establish the reputation of an extremely sincere singer. Curiously enough but mysterious, fascinating image of Nicks became a source of rumors about her being – believe it or not - a witch. The singer disposed all gossips and noted that her interest in gothicism and mysticism had nothing to do with the witchcraft. However gothicism and mysticism had always been a permanent elements of Stevie’s creativity. In different proportions they bring excellent results. How do rock, melodiousness and mysticism combine? The answer can be easily found in the artist’s numerous works.

In 2001 Nicks issued her first album of the new century: Trouble In Shangri-La. Tired of waiting music lovers received Trouble In Shangri-La, which had been created in Stevie’s best traditions, very well. Nevertheless, after the release of Trouble In Shangri-La they had to arm themselves with patience. The seventh studio album of enigmatic Nicks titled In Your Dreams saw the light ten years later, in 2011. According to the interviews, material for that long play had been recorded in an absolutely new way, so it is quite possible that listeners will find surprises on In Your Dreams. However in spite of any experiments that Stevie Nicks would like to try, the quality of In Your Dreams still remains unquestionable.
